Dr. Charles Nestor was born and raised in Washington, D.C. He grew up in a Christian home and has had a lifelong commitment to faith in Christ. For over thirty years he has been known for his outstanding preaching, teaching, and writing ministry.
He was graduated from Anacostia Senior High School in the honors program in 1965, and enjoyed the benefit of living near the center of government and history, which fostered a lasting interest in both.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts summa cum laude in history and theology from Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida, a Master of Arts with high honor in theological studies from Wheaton College Graduate School in Wheaton, Illinois, and was the 53rd recipient of the Doctor of Divinity from the Reformed Episcopal Seminary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Others so honored include Drs. Cornelius Van Til, Carl Armeding, Gordon Clark, James Montgomery Boise, and Frank Gabelien.
His ministry has included pastorates in Virginia, New York, Illinois, and Florida. Before multiple sclerosis led to his retirement from pastoral ministry, he pastored the Manassas Assembly of God for fourteen years. The church experienced rapid growth in congregational size, extent of ministries, and staff. Dr. Nestor led the church in building the largest religious facility in Prince William County of Northern Virginia, situated on a campus of over 150 acres.
Dr. Nestor has been the guest chaplain for the Virginia General Assembly and the United States Senate. He has served on numerous boards and commissions. His ministry has taken him around the world including China, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Israel, Turkey, Greece, Italy, France, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Canada and Barbados.
His media ministry has included producing programs on both radio and television. He has been a guest on many media programs including the BBC, C-span, CNN, Asahi TV Japan, and other national and international outlets. His ministry has been covered by the Washington Post, the Chicago Tribune, Le Observateur in France, and many local outlets.
He has been a guest speaker in churches and at events across the United States and has taught or lectured in many colleges and graduate schools including Wheaton College Graduate School, Northern Baptist Theological Seminary, Trinity Theological Seminary, Regent University School of Law, Southeastern University, Valley Forge Christian College, the Far Eastern School of Advanced Theology, and Elim College.
Dr. Nestor is the Senior Fellow for Ethics and Public Policy for the National Clergy Council in Washington, D.C., serves on the board of directors of the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary, and is Pastor Emeritus of the Manassas Assembly of God in Bristow, Virginia. He is an Ordained minister in the Assemblies of God.
Dr. Nestor and his wife, Belinda have been married for 42 years. They have three married children and seven grandchildren.
